Mercedes-Benz rolls out its second ‘Made in India’ BEV: EQS SUV 580 4MATIC, This launch also becomes significant milestone for the company- as this world-class BEV will be produced in Mercedes-Benz India’s Pune manufacturing facility.

India will be the only country outside of USA to manufacture locally the EQS SUV 580 4MATIC. Not only does the launch marks a significant step in MB India’s electrification journey, it also underscores the company’s manufacturing competencies and technological prowess. This marks MB India’s shared vision of ‘Make in India’, being the second BEV to be manufactured in India, after the sophisticated EQS luxury sedan.

Start of Local production of the EQS SUV 580 4MATIC:

• EQS SUV 580 4MATIC is Mercedes-Benz’s 2nd BEV ‘made in India, for India’ after the EQS sedan
• EQS SUV 580 4MATIC will be ‘Made in India’, as the only market outside its plant in Tuscaloosa, USA
• MB India has announced an additional investment of Rs. 200 crores in Jan-2024 towards manufacturing operations, new product start-ups and digitization of manufacturing processes
• Total cumulative investment of the company stands at Rs. 3000 crores in its manufacturing capacity
• The EQS SUV 580 4MATIC local production underscores: flexibility of production of ICE & BEV under one roof, managing a complex Supply Chain process, complex battery fitment process, complex fitment of MBUX Hyperscreen

Milestone reached:

• India is the first country outside USA, to start the local production of the EQS SUV 580 4MATIC
• MB Inda is the only luxury OEM to manufacture 2 BEV from its manufacturing facility (after the EQS 580 sedan)
