Kia EV6, the brutal electric power from Kia

Kia EV6, the brutal electric power from Kia

Kia launched an EV, we drove it, and now let’s talk about it.

Kia first came to India with the Seltos, which was a huge success. Other models quickly followed, and now India has an EV from the Kia stable, the EV6.

The EV 6 is a stylish and powerful electric vehicle available in two trim levels: GT Line and GT Line All Wheel Drive. The former has a single motor driving the rear wheels, while the latter has dual motors driving each pair of wheels.

The EV6 is a decent car, but before we get into the performance, let’s take a look at the price, which is important. The GT line costs 59.95 lakh, while the most expensive EV6, the GT line all wheel drive, costs 64.95 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices, so do the math.

The Looks
Kia EV looks cool during the day and even cooler at night. This vehicle has a lot of LEDs. The headlamps, tail lamps, boot stripe, and fog lamps are all LED. I believe the rear is the most beautiful part of this car; the design is stunning, and the LED lights look like jewels on the car. There is no boot section though, its a cross over and the tail gate open up like a notchback. and no rear wiper either.

The rear bumper has some appealing elements as well.

The door handles are flush, and the body lines and creasing make the Kia EV6 appear larger. and the wing mirrors have cameras for 360-degree viewing as well as line change support.

Wheels are big and the size of the tyres are 235/55/ R19, I believe this size tyre is too large for Indian roads, but I liked the diamond cut alloy wheel design.

There are a few more elements throughout the car, such as nice dark chrome and glossy black touches.

There is a tiny frunk and very little storage space beneath the bonnet. you can barely store your laptop bag. The KIA EV6 initially received radar based ADAS, and there is a place for that in the bumper. The headlight looks excellent with the DRL.

Overall the car look awesome to me, a bit of Aston Aartinish from the rear I would say.

Feel
The two-story step-through console and low gravity seat reclining are two of the standout interior specialities of the EV 6. The seats are actually comfortable to sit in and have heating and cooling features, and the Kia EV6 also has heated steering.

The headrests are not particularly conservative, and the seatback is made of harsh plastic.

The rear seats are the poorest component of this car at this pricing point since they are uncomfortable to sit in. Even though you can recline or fold the rear seats for better use. EV6 got rear AC vents but there are no air purifier like the other Kias and Hyundais in India.

Drive.
Like any other new gen Electric car, this one feels fast. It takes hardly more than 4.6 seconds to reach 100. I was driving the dual motor all wheel drive variant. The EV6’s maximum output is 321 horsepower pure, and it has 605 nm of torque and all-wheel drive. The grip was exceptional for a Kia. Steering felt direct to an extend, well weighted and light to use in parking speeds. Suspension setup also felt better, tuned for performance rather than comfort.

With this power and torque, the car is quick and you may not notice that you are driving at ridiculous speeds all of a sudden. And the good thing is the brakes are excellent; you can stop the car with confidence, especially since it is an EV with brake regeneration and a pair of paddle shifters.

Overall, EV6 is a nice to drive EV

As per Kia, you will get 500 kilometers on a full charge (if you are driving in testing conditions) and the real scenario and as per my driving conditions, the MID shows 420 kilometers on a full charge, and I feel its enough for a performance oriented EV. The equipment also includes an 8-year battery warranty. The battery capacity is 77.4kw, and it can be charged using a super charger as well.

Conclusion
If you’re looking for a high-performance electric vehicle, this is it. Forget about the back seats and go fast.
